My name is Sander van der Pol and I am 58 years old. Welcome to my weblog www.sandersblog.nl. I have been married for 34 very happy years with Els and we have 3 sons. The eldest, Thomas, lives in Australia and is very content with Seona. My sons Erik en Niels  are identical twins. They both live in Amsterdam.

About three years ago I learned that I have multiple myeloma (MM). It’s been a strange year and it isn’t over yet. August 3rd found me in the VUmc; my brother is donor, I had a allogenic stemcelltransplantation. After total body radiation therapy, the stemcells that have been harvested were inserted through an infusion. That will be the last treatment for the time being. The procedure itself is not too bad, but recovery will take a lot of time..and pills.

But… I can’t complain, because this transplant is the best chance anyone with MM can have. The doctors at the VUmc are very skillful and I put my trust in them.
